QingYuan Engineering Consultants

QingYuan Engineering Consultants Ltd. (QYEC), established in 1995 and headquartered in the Qingyang District of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, stands as a leading engineering consulting firm. Renowned for its independence and innovation, QYEC holds the distinction of being the only Class-A private engineering service firm in China's hydropower industry.

Guided by the motto, “People Oriented, Green Innovation, Win-Win Cooperation,” QYEC has consistently delivered outstanding results across a wide portfolio of projects. Over the years, the firm has provided engineering solutions for more than a hundred hydropower initiatives, with installed capacities ranging from 1.5 MW to 746 MW, and water heads spanning from 7 metres to an impressive 1,175 metres. QYEC's expertise covers a diverse array of project types, from Run-of-River (RoR) to Storage, executed both within China and internationally, in countries such as Ecuador, Nepal, Laos, Tanzania, Malaysia, and Pakistan.

QYEC views hydropower development as a delicate balance of technical efficiency, financial viability, environmental care, and social responsibility. This philosophy serves as the cornerstone of its engineering services, leading to a cumulative installed capacity surpassing 10 GW. Over 80 projects, with a total capacity of over 6.5 GW, have been successfully commissioned, and 28 projects totalling over 3.5 GW are currently under construction or in the planning stages.

QYEC's commitment to green development and carbon neutrality is exemplified through its flagship projects in China. The Xigu Hydropower Project (HPP), with a capacity of 249 MW, features a state-of-the-art Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam (CFRD) that stands 141 metres tall. Similarly, the Xieka HPP showcases cutting-edge engineering with a rare deep overburden CFRD standing 106 metres high and extending 550 metres in crest length, operating with a rated head of 451 metres. Both projects are notable not only for their high CFRD dams but also for their integration of hydro-solar complementary systems, significantly contributing to green innovation.

QYEC's strategic expansion into international markets is underscored by the establishment of branch offices in Hong Kong and Nepal. As the firm continues to grow, it remains steadfast in its mission to promote green development and achieve carbon neutrality.

QYEC's recent decision to join the International Hydropower Association (IHA) highlights its commitment to aligning with global best practices and contributing to the worldwide conversation on sustainable hydropower. Through its IHA membership, QYEC aims to enhance its role in advancing sustainability by engaging in knowledge sharing and collaboration with industry leaders across the globe.
