2015 World Hydropower Congress
In May 2015, the International Hydropower Association will host the world’s most important gathering of hydropower decision-makers and experts in Beijing, China.
The 5th World Hydropower Congress will celebrate the industry passing the 1,000 GW capacity milestone and provide an opportunity to discuss pathways towards realising 2,050 GW by 2050. This vision aims to address the global challenge of providing energy security with access to all, while minimising environmental impact.
The three-day congress will bring together 1,000 leaders and specialists from the hydropower sector and the wider world of politics, finance, environment and technology to share visions of how the target could be practically achieved.
Delegates will have the unique opportunity to visit some of China’s great achievements, including the Great Wall and the world’s largest hydropower complex at the Three Gorges Dam.
Doubling the world's hydropower capacity
The congress itself will examine great cases of success today and the challenges of the future, focusing on how the 2,050 GW by 2050 vision can be realised technically, financially, environmentally and through regulation.
