Fostering Collaborative Actions to Fast Track Clean Energy Transition in the Commonwealth at COP29 hosted by the Commonwealth

The Commonwealth Heads at the CHOGM 2018 encouraged member countries to cooperate in accelerating the transition to cleaner forms of energy and reaffirmed their comitment to sustainable energy transition at CHOGM 2022. The Commonwealth Sustainable Energy Transition Agenda (CSET) is a collaborative platform for commonwealth countries and development partners to take concerted actions towards fast tracking the achievement of SDG7 and net zero emissions commitments under the Paris Agreement. The achievement of clean energy transition goals is a global challenge that calls for global collaboration across countries and organisations. This CSET side event will include presentations on topical issues on energy transition including clean energy investment business for power and transportation sectors in SIDS, Energy Transition Investment Plans (ETIPs), closing energy access (SDG 7.1.1 on electricity & 7.1.2 on clean cooking), enabling policy and regulatory solutions for energy transition, energy storage, supply of energy transition minerals and, spotlight current and new collaborative initiatives under the CSET Agenda to speed up inclusive and just sustainable energy transition towards the achievement of SDG7 and net zero emissions commitments under the Paris Agreement.
