This side event will highlight how UN organizations, in collaboration with international partners, can support and scale small hydropower (SHP) globally. SHP is a critical technology for enhancing energy access, supporting climate resilience, and driving sustainable development, particularly in underserved and off-grid regions.

The event will focus on how SHP contributes to the Food-Water-Energy Nexus, agricultural sustainability, water security, and community well-being. It will also examine how SHP aligns with global climate resilience strategies and contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Key UN organizations will share insights on their roles in supporting SHP, with panellists discussing strategies for driving global SHP adoption.
