Pump it up with Pumped Storage Hydropower

The International Hydropower Association (IHA) is creating a momentum of activity to promote pumped storage hydropower - the rechargeable water batteries of the energy sector.

The year-long campaign for pumped storage hydropower will culminate at the International Forum on Pumped Storage Hydropower 2.0 in Paris in 2025 Q3 with key events, milestones and activities designed to pump it up throughout the year, including:

• An industry-first guide to de-risk investments in pumped storage hydropower
• A guidance note for policymakers seeking to develop pumped storage hydropower
• Global storage target by the Global Renewables Summit
• Webinars with key stakeholders like the British Hydropower Association; the National Hydropower Association; the Long Duration Energy Storage Council
• Key advocacy moments during Clean Currents, Global Renewables Summit, the Clean Energy Ministerial and COP29
• The International Forum on Pumped Storage Hydropower 2.0
