China Three Gorges announced as a strategic partner at the World Hydropower Congress
China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) has been announced as a strategic partner at the 2023 World Hydropower Congress taking place from 31 October to 2 November in Bali, Indonesia.
Founded in September 1993, CTG is now the world’s biggest hydropower development and operation enterprise and a leading clean energy company in China.
Its major business comprises of hydropower project construction and management, power production, international investment, renewable energy development such as wind power and solar power, utilisation of water resources, technical consulting services and environmental protection and restoration.
As of July 2023, CTG’s total installed capacity has reached 128GW in more than 20 countries and regions across the world, of which 96% is from renewable and clean energy resources.
It has developed a cascade of mega-sized hydropower stations on China’s Yangtze River, including the Three Gorges Project, with many technological breakthroughs accomplished and records made in dam construction and capacity per unit. CTG also has a strong presence in other renewables, such as wind and solar and is doubling down on making greater contributions to the global transition to a cleaner and greener energy mix.
Hydropower stations built by CTG have been indispensable actors in China’s flood control system that keeps hundreds of millions of people away from harm. A large number of social responsibility initiatives are also being undertaken to deliver benefits in water resources preservation, energy conservation, emission reduction, ecological protection and community co-development.
