World Hydropower Congress added to 2023 ASEAN Indonesia’s programme
The International Hydropower Association (IHA) in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the state-owned electricity company PLN are honoured to announce that this year’s World Hydropower Congress will be part of the 2023 Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) Indonesia Chairmanship’s programme.
ASEAN aims to accelerate the economic growth, social progress and cultural development in the region through joint endeavours to strengthen the foundation for a prosperous and peaceful community of Southeast Asian Nations.
As Chair, Indonesia aims to strengthen economic recovery and make Southeast Asia a centre of sustainable growth. Over the past decade, ASEAN’s average annual growth reached 3.98 per cent, which is above the global economic growth average of 2.6 per cent. The Chairmanship is hoping to maintain this growth while ensuring the benefits are directly and positively impacting the local communities of ASEAN.
The 2023 World Hydropower Congress will take place under the leadership of Indonesian President Joko Widodo and highlights hydropower’s crucial role in powering sustainable growth and the transition to clean energy as a central theme.
Key speakers Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Darmawan Prasodjo, PLN President Director, will spotlight the government’s ambitious commitments to the development of renewable energy, particularly hydropower, to spearhead the green transition.
The high-level decision-making and innovations contributing to ASEAN’s growth can be experienced first-hand in Bali, Indonesia from 31 October to 2 November.
