World Hydropower Congress awarded 'Best Long-Standing Event'
The International Hydropower Association (IHA) was awarded the 'Best Long-Standing Event with more than 1,000 Participants' for the 2023 World Hydropower Congress at the International & European Association Awards 2024 in Graz, Austria last week.
The Congress won for its global impact and success. It was held in Bali, Indonesia, in October-November last year, in partnership with the Government of Indonesia and the state electricity provider PLN. More than 300 organisations from 50 countries were represented at the event.
The Associations World Congress 2024 was hosted by the Association of Association Executives, with an independent panel of judges selecting the winners from the nominated finalists.
Eddie Rich, CEO at the International Hydropower Association, responded to the win: “I am proud to see the World Hydropower Congress winning this award. This award also belongs to the Government of Indonesia and former President Joko Widodo, who opened the Congress. We thank the primary partners, PT KHN, for their key role in making the Congress a success.
“Having the event in Indonesia was of key importance. This is a country looking to drive its industrial development through renewable energy - with hydropower pre-eminent. Whilst the event itself is well recognised, the hard steps are still ahead. IHA is here for all stakeholders seeking to advance sustainable hydropower's role in the energy transition. Thank you to the organisers and fellow winners.”
YB Andhi Marjono, Board Member at PT KHN, commented: "Congratulations to all the IHA team. KHN, as the primary partner of the event, is very proud."
Elena Perez, Head of Events and Engagement at IHA, added: “It means so much that the Congress has received this recognition. I want to thank everyone on the IHA team for their hard work and determination that made this event such a success. I’d also like to thank our partners, sponsors, members and speakers for their crucial role in making the event happen.”
