Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) is an Indian government-owned company that plays a pivotal role in the energy sector.

It has held complete ownership of six subsidiary companies since 2005 and its primary responsibilities include managing bulk electricity procurement and sales, as well as coordinating and facilitating the operations of its six subsidiary companies.

These subsidiaries cover various aspects of the power supply chain including electricity generation, transmission and electricity distribution in different regions of the state.

GUVNL collaborates closely with its subsidiaries to facilitate the development of Gujarat's power sector and uphold reliable electricity services state-wide, whilst promoting energy conservation initiatives and ensuring a stable and efficient power supply throughout Gujarat.

GUVNL possesses a robust power portfolio, encompassing 20.7 GW of conventional energy sources and an additional 25 GW of tied-up capacity derived from diverse renewable sources, which includes 797.6 MW from hydroelectric projects. Aligned with national objectives and committed to reducing carbon emissions while bolstering energy security, GUVNL is poised to integrate an additional 3.6 GW of hydro projects into its energy blend.
